An Invisible Threat

For over a year now, we’ve all been increasingly aware of the need to defend ourselves from something that we can’t see that could easily kill us. However, the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 is not the only invisible threat that we all need to be aware of. Another invisible threat that has been around for many, many years is that of carbon monoxide. In very high concentrations, carbon monoxide can poison a person and kill them in under five minutes.

So, what can you do to protect yourself and your family from this deadly and invisible threat? One important step is to install carbon monoxide detectors on each floor of your home, perhaps positioned nearby any fuel-burning appliances. Then, once they’re installed, be sure to maintain them and make sure the batteries are good. Another very important step is to have fuel-burning appliances inspected regularly. Keeping these things maintained and working properly can eliminate the production of carbon monoxide.
