If you own a home or business with central air conditioning, you have ducts that run throughout the building, pushing cool air into each room. These ducts can be fairly small, and can be very difficult for most people to clean. Contrary to what the movies would have you believe, it’s not really an option to have a child or smaller adult climb into the ductwork to take care of business. So what can be done?
Well, one option is that there are professional duct-cleaning services that will block off every vent in the house, except for one, and then they’ll use that vent to connect what amounts to a vacuum cleaner, which sucks out any dirt or debris in the entire system of ductwork. Once that’s done, they’ll likely treat the ducts with an antimicrobial or antifungal chemical, which will prevent or discourage the growth of mold or other nasty stuff that you don’t want to be breathing.
