Personal Protective Equipment, or PPE, has been a somewhat controversial topic since the COVID-19 pandemic began – or, at least, when it comes to using a face mask. More generally speaking, though, PPE can be a very good thing. PPE includes anything used to protect yourself from safety hazards, like wearing safety glasses, a hard hat, gloves, or work boots.
While these things are typically required to be used in a commercial environment, many homeowners have seen the value of using PPE even when doing fairly routine tasks around their homes. Safety glasses and gloves, for example, can help protect a person from hazards related to corrosive or otherwise harmful chemicals like paint thinner or weed killer. A hard hat and fall protection can be a good idea when working from heights, like cleaning or repairing the gutters around your roof. Why not take a few minutes to think about some of the tasks you perform around your home and see which types of PPE could be useful for you?
