One of the best things you can do when it comes to your home’s water heater is to give it some attention now and then. This attention doesn’t have to be significant. One thing you might do is to test out your temperature and pressure release valve. Lifting it a little bit and then letting it snap back in place should produce a gurgling sound. If you don’t hear that, or it doesn’t snap back in place, you might need to replace that valve. Another thing you could do is a mini-flush of the tank from time to time. Most water heaters have a drain valve – open that up over a bucket, and drain a couple of gallons to remove sediment.
